Get a true 3d game and suddenly the forum is filled with people complaining that moving up and down z-level is too annoying, or that the camera is annoying, or that building in a 3d space is too difficult. For as much as z-levels gets requested in Rimworld you would think that people would understand what that means, but nope. So building actually requires some thought and vertical structures need to be properly supported underneath. The biggest thing is the 3d, and stability mechanics. So there is less personality in the colonists and trying to maintain their moods feels less important. It also lacks any sort of relation system or mental breaks. Sure, it has colony elements and raiders, but it lacks Rimworlds story tellers so events just feel overly random. Not that that is a bad thing, like how use would you do a job priority panel and not use something that is known to work in other games and that players are familiar with? It is a true 3d voxel based game, that shares similar interfaces.
